We'll pick up where we left off last year, bringing you our curations of new brand debuts, collaborations, and limited editions, along with noteworthy category and product launches, each Friday. With that in mind, here is the first roundup for 2022.

Chanel is jumping on the clean beauty bandwagon with a new range of sustainably sourced skincare, makeup, and fragrance named No.1. The packaging was eco-designed with a focus on lightweighting, using about 80 percent recycled materials and limiting the use of plastics. The No.1. products are based on red camellia, a flower that Chanel scientists have been researching for a decade. All the formulas incorporate its extract, oils, seeds, and yeasts. The nine-piece collection includes a fragrance mist, powder-to-foam cleanser, a serum-in-mist, a skin-perfecting foundation, and lip and cheek balms, ranging in price from $45 to $160; the collection will be available in Ulta and on Chanel’s website.

COLLABORATION X LIMITED EDITIONS

OPI and Xbox: A Spring collection from OPI that merges beauty and gaming. The collaboration consists of four formulas in 12 shades ranging from fresh blues and greens to fantastical shimmers that bring the virtual worlds of gaming to life. Beginning February 1, consumers can unlock shade-matched Xbox in-game content for Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 with every qualifying purchase of the Xbox OPI polish at select retailers. Fans will have the chance to win custom Xbox Wireless Controllers in top trending hues. OPI and Xbox will also team up with notable creators from the gaming industry to bring the collaboration to life.

Anecdote Candles: This brand's DNA is about making fragrance a conversational piece inspired by personal recollections and cultural trends. Following the limited-edition 2021 Candle of the Year "Smells Light Hindsight" is the launch of the new 2022 Candle of the Year "Smells Like High Hopes and Low Expectations" featuring notes of citron and jasmine.

CATEGORY LAUNCH AND RELAUNCH

Smashbox: Known for their cult-favorite Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Primer (here to stay), the brand is reinventing its iconic primer category with five new Photo Finish Silkscreen Primers. These products perfect makeup, help defend skin with an innovative Silkscreen Complex, and address redness, hydration, dullness, and oiliness. The new lineup of primers creates a breathable, silky barrier that perfects the canvas by smoothing and strengthening skin against damage from environmental aggressors like pollution and blue light. The Photo Finish Silkscreen Primers retail for $39 (full size) and $14 (travel size) and are available at Sephora.

Mustela: The French dermocosmetic leader of products for babies and children has debuted a Multi-Purpose Balm created with three Avocado Extracts upcycled from Peruvian organic avocados and packaged in an infinitely recyclable aluminum tube. This is the first product in the brand's new family range, which will have a specific logo and packaging.

dpHUE: The haircare brand specializing in hair color maintenance expands into styling. Prep & Protect and Styling Collections is a range of six products designed to help protect strands and hair color while styling. All products priced at $28.

PRODUCT LAUNCH

BareMinerals: Looks like foundation but acts like skincare. The new BAREPRO 16HR Skin-Perfecting Powder Foundation ($35) is available in 35 shades for all skin tones and undertones, perfecting complexions and improving skin over time. The breathable formula offers 24 hours of oil and shine control, leaving skin with a natural matte finish and 16 hours of wear time.

Kosas: Dreamy gel watercolor eye shadow lights up lids with effortless application. 10-Second Eye is formulated with active skincare ingredients Galactoarabinan, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Orange Flower Water for brightening, smoothing, and anti-aging benefits. Available in five neutral shades and priced at $15.

Kinship: The brand's second cleanser in the brand's multifunctional formula roundup is Naked Apple Cleanser ($23). A daily deep pore cleansing gel with a foaming lather reduces blemishes and balances oil without stripping the skin, providing a deep cleanse that removes makeup while protecting the moisture barrier.

Farmacy: The brand-new 10% Niacinamide Night Mask ($42) is a potent leave-on night mask with 10% niacinamide that is clinically tested to visibly improve skin texture and tone, refine pores, and help strengthen skin's moisture barrier.

Sol de Janeiro: Deliciously scented with the brand's beloved Cheirosa '62 scent, Brazilian Glossy Hair Oil is a moisturizing and smoothing oil treatment that eliminates frizz, protects against damage, and imparts shine. Perfect for medium, coarse, or textured hair, adding intense moisture and nourishment for soft, healthy hair. Available at Sephora for $34.

OSEA: Building off the success of its cult-fave Body Oil, OSEA introduces Undaria Algae Body Butter. Developed with efficacious, plant-based ingredients like ceramides to renew the skin barrier, DPHP to firm, shea butter to soften, and Undaria Seaweed to replenish, the ultra-rich formula claims to keep skin hydrated for up to 72 hours.
